Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 - History, Glimpse, Winners

Right after the Indian Cricket team won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the governing body of Indian Cricket, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announced a franchise-based T20 cricket league that came to be known as the Indian Premier League.

History of IPL

The first season of IPL was held back in 2008. The idea was something that was never witnessed before, anywhere else in the world in the Cricket fraternity. The Indian Premier League started with 8 teams and the teams were named after different cities of India. Players from around the world were auctioned off and bought by teams. And soon enough, the world of sports witnessed an epic and historic moment being made. The first-ever season of IPL had started. The first-ever match of IPL was exactly how it was supposed to be. EXPLOSIVE!

Kolkata Knight Riders' Brendon McCullum went on to score an unforgettable century and eventually scored 158* runs helping KKR to make 222 in 120 balls that were allocated.

KKR destroyed their opponent, Royal challengers Bangalore (RCB).

And since that night, the hype, the excitement for IPL hasn't dampened even a little.

Yes, although IPL has had its fair share of controversies with spot fixings and with the suspension of one of the top teams of the league, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the fans of IPL showed the world why this league is the best there is. IPL has made it difficult for cricket lovers around the globe to not love this league. It has that emotional attachment with the fans and vice versa.

IPL - A platform for budding Cricketers

IPL has helped and is continuing to help budding cricketers grow. This platform is the biggest there is and to prove their worth on this platform has always been the top priority of new players from around the world. To showcase the talents of the young cricketers is what IPL is truly known for. Any young player who's been given a chance to play, they're allowed to play with freedom to feel no pressure at all. Even the international players are sometimes looking forward to performing well in the IPL to get selected for their respective national sides.

IPL 2021

Coming to this year's IPL, which had to be postponed due to COVID-19 and was rescheduled in UAE. The remaining 31 matches were played as they were supposed to. Though this year's IPL was postponed mid-season, it still kept the fans on their toes till it resumed from where it was stopped. The excitement was still the same. The fun was still the same. And the matches were tough. It has been a tight IPL this year so far. After a lot of ups and downs, rivalries, and nail-biting matches, we finally got the two finalists of this year's IPL.

Finale IPL 2021

CSK and KKR locked horns on the 15th of October and KKR, upon winning the toss decided to field first putting CSK to bat on a surface that turned out to be a brilliant one.

CSK put on a total score of 192/3 in their allotted 20 overs and it was almost immediately known that the KKR team would collapse as soon as their openers departed. And that's exactly what happened. KKR went from 91/1 to 123/7 in a blink of an eye. And as predicted, the middle order batsmen fell flat on their faces resulting in KKR's loss.

CSK won IPL 2021

CSK went on to win another IPL title, their 4th under the same captain, M.S. Dhoni. What could have a better farewell to one of the greatest captains of the game?

Since it was the last year before the Mega auction, both the teams did give their absolute best but one team had to come up on top and that was CSK.

Another year. Another title for CSK.
